Patriots place-kicker Nick Folk missed his first two field goal attempts after the joining the Patriots at the start of the 2020 season. After those two misses, all he did was make his next 36 consecutive field goals to set a Patriots franchise record for most consecutive made field goals – a record formerly held by Stephen Gostkowski (31).
Folk broke Gostkowski’s record on Sept. 19, 2021 in a 25-6 win over the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. He entered that game with 29 straight made field goals but converted on all four tries – from 46, 49, 32 and 26 yards. The 32-yarder set a new franchise record. The football Folk kicked to set the new team mark is on display at the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by Raytheon Technologies. The streak was broken in the rain on Oct. 3, 2021 when Folk’s 56-yard, go-ahead field goal try with :59 remaining in a 19-17 loss to the Buccaneers at Gillette Stadium hit the left upright and bounced out.
Folk’s previous longest streak was 23 straight field goals in 2013 when he played for the New York Jets. The NFL record is 44 straight field goals by former Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri.
