Every moment of the playoff games leading to the first Super Bowl victory (XXXVI) have left great memories, but I got a special thrill from the win over the Steelers in Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game played on January 27, 2002. We were heavy underdogs and when Tom Brady injured his anke the second quarter, Drew Bledsoe came in off the bench after not playing for months and immediately completed three straight passes including a touchdown to Dave Patten. I actually choked up in the press box. Drew was a consummate pro – complete class – as he had to sit for the remainder of the season after being injured while Tom Brady took over. There was something like poetic justice with that moment and was indicative of how that team just kept working together through the entire season, no matter what.
