We would like to congratulate the Patriots Hall of Fame presented by RTX 2025 Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year. This is the 13th year of this award that was created in 2012 to promote STEM education and honor a classroom teacher in the STEM subjects. For the first time, we have co-winners! Congratulations to Elizabeth Mundy (Watertown High School) and Tammy Rumplik (Robert Doering Middle School), our 2025 recipients.
Elizabeth and Tammy were chosen from a group of five finalists, and they’re the first co-recipients of the annual award. Each teacher’s school will receive a $5,000 grant for STEM education, two tickets to a Patriots home game, and will serve a one-year term on the Governor’s STEM Council.
Elizabeth works with a local non-profit, CoLab, which connects biotech and STEM businesses with the school, advocates for her students as an advisor on multiple clubs and is constantly looking to improve her classes by networking with teachers in other grades and subjects.
Tammy founded an science camp, after school science club and science fair to provide more opportunities for her students, collaborates with high school teachers to gain insight into what will be required of students as they move through the school system and provides training and professional development for teachers in her district.
The other finalists schools will receive $1,000 for STEM education courtesy of RTX. Here are the other finalists:
Amy Doyle – Ayer Shirley Regional Middle School (Ayer)
Daniel Cushing – Woodland Elementary School (Milford)
Jane O’Connor – Saint Joseph School (Needham)
Funding for this year’s awards is provided by The Patriots Foundation and the Executive Office of Education. The 2026 Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year application period will open this fall.
Congratulations to Elizabeth and Tammy, the other finalists, and all the nominees. This is a well-deserved honor!
